Sarcelle
Sarcelle serves as a terrible warning to all wooden boat owners of what happens if you let the maintenance slip. Built for Fergus McKinley of Dun Laoghaire in 1951, Sarcelle is the tenth boat in the fleet. Beginning a life registered to clubs such as Royal Alfred, Dublin Bay and RIYC, Fergus owned the boat until around 1973 when it changed hands to Donald McLean of Greystones. The boat disappears until around 1995 when it turns up in Co. Sligo. The story goes, Sarcelle was sunk on her mooring off Mullaghmore and sent to Rodney Lomax' yard for repairs. (Here it is pictured in Strandhill in 1995)
