Scarlet Pimpernel
Built in 1950, S Class number six was commissioned by Ernest Palfrey of Belfast, Virginia Water to be precise (please see the next slide for her original specification). He owned the boat until 1959 when it was bought by Donald Dingwall. During this time, the boat moved to Winnipeg, Canada and a quick succession of owners then followed. In 1963, the boat was purchased by William Peterson of Toronto. Switching hands again, Scarlet Pimpernel moved to William Parker in 1968 and G. B Turner of Toronto in 1973. In '73, he wrote to the Shipyard Company seeking details of the first owner. Ronnie Slater told him he remembered the boat being built and that her topsides were scarlet with a gold cove line.

In the 1990s, the boat was regularly crewed by Gordon Laco of Northwest Maritime Center’s Wooden Boat Chandlery (who took the above and neighbouring photographs).
